Clubs

Our Journalism Club is for middle and high school students who want some fun and adventure! We work as a team to provide articles, photos, and more for our monthly online publication, The Journey. Students learn to interview, research, photograph, and write articles about current events or what's coming up. They are encouraged to have regular columns in The Journey. Once the student signs up, he/she will be considered a Staff Writer and have a brief bio in our publication. Kids always have something to say. So let's hear it!

The Journalism Club is open to all middle and high school SGHA members.

We have four levels of book clubs!

Book Bunnies: ages 3, 4, and 5. This level is led by Ms. Kristen. Our little ones will enjoy story time each week with a new book!

Book Bears: 1st - 4th Grades. Led by Ms. Michele, this level will read one book per month! Watch the website for book choices. Young readers will have lots of help!

Book Bandicoots: 5th - 8th Grades. This group, led by Ms. Teresa, will also read one book per month. We'll have lively discussions on what we read.

Book Badgers: 9th - 12th Grades. Leader Needed. This group will read more advanced books in a variety of genres. Book discussions are held once a month, either at our meeting place or online.

The Youth Book Clubs meet at 1 - 3pm on the third Friday of each month at New Bethel Baptist Church. For more information contact Teresa Rendon.

Team Trekkers is our hiking club for our older students. Once a month they will venture outdoors to hike, bike, swim, maybe even camp. They will learn team work and how to be safe in the outdoors while getting exercise and making new friends at the same time.

Our Symphony Club is for any student or parent who loves or is interesting in learning more about classical music and visiting the symphony performances at VSU. We will occassionally travel to Tallahassee or Jacksonville to partake of their fine orchestras too!

Master Chefs was created for the students who love to cook! We meet every 3rd Friday during Clubs. Learn to make new dishes, how to set a table, and how to be a great host or hostess to your friends!
